Apple Cinnamon Pork Chops

This was the first time I made this and I’m not lying – they were wicked good.  I know I say it a lot, but this really is a fairly simple meal that looks and tastes fancy.  There’s not too much prep time so you don’t need to plan it out days in advance.

What you’ll need:

  • Pork chops.
  • Breadcrumbs.
  • Egg.
  • Brown sugar.
  • Cinnamon.
  • Cinnamon sugar.
  • Garlic.
  • Apples.
  • An egg.
  • Raisins.
  • Honey.
  • A tiny bit of butter.
  • A frying pan and a small to medium sauce pan.

First step is to get your chops ready.  Trim off any fat and cut to size if you want them smaller.  After the pork is ready, crack the egg into a bowl and stir it / whip it like you would for scrambled eggs.

Next up you need to get the breading ready.  Start with some breadcrumbs and add your seasoning: sugar, cinnamon sugar, cinnamon, garlic, whatever else you want.  Add in all the ingredients and hand mix until all the ingredients are evenly mixed.

Add some oil to your frying pan and heat the oil up before adding the meat.  When the oil is warm, drop in your breaded chops.

While pork chops are cooking in the frying pan you can start making the apple side dish.  Quick note!  Keep the left over egg and bread crumbs… you’ll see why later.

For the apples, start off by putting some butter and water in the sauce pan.  Just a little bit of each.  Once the butter is melted, add some brown sugar, cinnamon sugar and cinnamon to taste.  Start off with the brown sugar and mix it in pretty well.  Keep adding water and spices until you have the quantity you want.  The consistency should be on the thicker side.  Add the cut up apples to your sauce mix.  Put a cover on the sauce pan and cook the apples.  Be sure to stir the apples so they all get covered in the sauce and they all cook and soften up.

By now I’m sure the pork chops are all cooked up.  Remove them from the oil but keep the pan on.  Take whatever egg is leftover and mix it with whatever breadcrumbs are left over.  If it’s too thick, you can add a little bit of milk to the mix. Spread the mix onto the frying pan into a pancake like shape.  This is my soon to be world famous egg bread!  Fry it on both sides just like you would anything else.

The egg “bread” is a nice way to use up left over food.  Obviously you can make it thicker or thinner and crisper, etc.  This one ended up being pretty thin and a little crispy.  Trust me, it doesn’t sound great but these things taste awesome!

Once you’re done eating your egg bread appetizer, it’s time to dig in!  I had boiled potatoes and a salad as a side.

The sauce that is in the pan with the apples goes good on everything.  I put it on my pork and on the potatoes.  It would have gone well on the salad if it hadn’t been warm, too.
